Skibbereen – The Famine Story Exhibition gives a compelling insight into this important event in Irish history. This was one of the worst affected areas in all of Ireland, a fact testified by the mass graves in Abbeystrowry near Skibbereen, where almost 10,000 victims are buried. This era is brought to life in a series of exhibits, dramatisations and interactive stations. A walking trail app provides stories at sites in the town with direct links to the Great Famine. The Lough Hyne Visitor Centre offers an insight into Ireland’s first marine nature reserve. Sat Nav: 51.5502, -9.2717
