A colourful masterpiece of storytelling

The visual impact and beauty of the award-winning modern Exhibition of Quaker Tapestry inspires all those who visit. Often compared with the more ancient Bayeux Tapestry, this colourful masterpiece of storytelling is a celebration of life, people and events across the centuries. With temporary showcases, interactive displays, events, films, audio guides, children’s activities and intriguing artefacts on display there’s something for all ages.

What’s on the Menu in the Cafe?

Our award-winning Meeting House Cafe has a rapidly growing reputation for excellent vegetarian cuisine cooked on the premises from the freshest local ingredients.
The wealth of local produce available in this part of Cumbria is used to provide a fantastic menu of light snacks and lunches, morning coffee and afternoon tea and wonderful homemade cake and desserts. Most of our menu items can be prepared to take away too.

Souvenirs from the Quaker Tapestry Gift Shop

The Quaker Tapestry’s carefully stocked gift shop contains a wide range of quality gifts, mementos, books, guides, cards and DVDs, which you can take away as a souvenir of your visit, or as a gift for friends and family.

Our range of gifts has something to suit all ages, interests and pockets – from tapestry kits and wool to children’s toys, fairly traded jewellery to luxury biscuits and preserves, and a selection of locally produced products from the Lake District.
